Ben is a consultant physician and geriatrician at the Bristol Royal Infirmary, specialising in the acute hospital care of frail and elderly patients on the Older Persons’ Assessment Unit. He also specialises in cardiology for the older person, including as a member of the valvular heart disease team. He works on the acute medical take, including managing adult patients with sepsis and a wide range of general medical pathologies.
He has trained at University of Cambridge, University College London, University of Bristol and in Tanzania and Uganda with the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
He is passionate about education, and holds the role of Royal College of Physicians Internal Medical Training College Tutor for the BRI. He has recently worked as a tutor in Complex Medicine for the Older Person for the University of Bristol. He has completed the postgraduate certificate in teaching and learning for health professionals.
He works as a medico-legal expert witness in clinical negligence and personal injury cases, and also with HM coroner.
Outside of work, Ben enjoys playing the viola in two good amateur orchestras and walking his dog.
